«أَلَيْسَتْ خَمْسَةُ عَصَافِيرَ تُبَاعُ بِفَلْسَيْنِ، وَوَاحِدٌ مِنْهَا لَيْسَ مَنْسِيًّا أَمَامَ اللهِ؟ بَلْ شُعُورُ رُؤُوسِكُمْ أَيْضًا جَمِيعُهَا مُحْصَاةٌ. فَلاَ تَخَافُوا! أَنْتُمْ أَفْضَلُ مِنْ عَصَافِيرَ كَثِيرَةٍ!»

“Are not five sparrows sold for two pennies? Yet not one of them is forgotten in God’s sight. But even the hairs of your head are all counted. Do not be afraid; you are of more value than many sparrows.”

القديس يوحنا الذهبي الفم – St. John Chrysostom

يرى أن المسيح استخدم مثال العصافير ليؤكد للمؤمنين أن الله يعتني بهم في كل تفاصيل حياتهم. حتى الأمور التي يراها الناس تافهة أو بلا قيمة، مثل العصافير الرخيصة أو عدد الشعر، هي في نظر الله جديرة بالاهتمام. ومن هنا يخلص الذهبي الفم إلى أن خوف الإنسان باطل إذا كان مؤمناً بعناية الله.عظة على إنجيل متى، العظة 34، فقرة 2.

Christ used the example of sparrows to show believers that God cares for them in every detail of life. Even things considered trivial or worthless by humans, like cheap sparrows or the number of hairs, are worthy of God’s attention. Thus, Chrysostom concludes that fear is vain if one truly trusts in God’s providence.Homily on Matthew, Homily 34, sec. 2

القديس كيرلس الكبير (الإسكندري) – St. Cyril of Alexandria

يقول إن ذكر العصافير يوضح مدى محبة الله لشعبه: فإذا كانت الطيور التي تباع بأبخس الأثمان ليست منسية أمامه، فكم بالحريّ أبناؤه الذين خُلقوا على صورته! ويرى أن المسيح بهذه الكلمات كان يعزّي التلاميذ ويهيئهم لاحتمال الاضطهاد، مؤكداً أن حياتهم محفوظة بيد الله.تفسير إنجيل لوقا، الجزء الثاني، ص. 341 (PG 72:701).

The mention of sparrows demonstrates God’s love for His people: if birds sold for a trivial price are not forgotten by Him, how much more His children, created in His image! With these words, Christ consoles His disciples and prepares them for persecution, assuring them that their lives are held in God’s hands.Commentary on Luke, Book II, p. 341 (PG 72:701)

القديس أغسطينوس – St. Augustine

يركّز على معنى "إحصاء الشعور"، فيقول إن هذا لا يقصد به مجرد العدد، بل العناية الدقيقة التي يعرف الله بها حتى ما لا نعرفه نحن عن أنفسنا. فإذا كان الله يعرف كل شعرة، فهذا يعني أن كل لحظة من حياة المؤمن هي تحت رعايته. لذلك لا خوف على الإنسان من أحداث هذا العالم، لأن قيمته في نظر الله أسمى بكثير من قيمة الطيور.العظة على إنجيل متى 10:29-31، الأعمال الكاملة، PL 38:629.

He emphasizes the meaning of “numbered hairs,” explaining that it signifies not only counting but God’s precise care, knowing even what we ourselves do not. If God knows every hair, then every moment of a believer’s life lies under His providence. أوريجانوس – Origen

يرى أن ذكر العصافير يرمز إلى النفوس الضعيفة أو الصغيرة التي يعتني بها الله ولا ينساها، حتى لو بدت في نظر الناس بلا قيمة. ويضيف أن الله يهتم بجميع المستويات الروحية، من الأعظم إلى الأصغر.تفسير إنجيل لوقا، الجزء السابع، فقرة 23 (PG 13:1817).

He interprets sparrows as representing weak or “small” souls that God cares for and does not forget, even if they seem worthless in human eyes. Origen adds that God attends to every spiritual level, from the greatest to the least.Commentary on Luke, Book VII, sec. 23 (PG 13:1817)

لا شيء في حياتنا يمرّ من دون أن يلاحظه الله.عناية الله تشمل الكبير والصغير، حتى ما نعتبره نحن بلا قيمة.المؤمن مدعو ليثق أن حياته محفوظة بيد الله، فلا يخاف من الناس ولا من الظروف.

Nothing in our lives escapes God’s attention.His providence extends to both great and small matters, even those we deem insignificant.The believer is called to trust that life rests securely in God’s hands, without fear of people or circumstances.
